Last November, Lumberton attorney Danny Britt became the first Republican to win Robeson County’s state Senate seat since Reconstruction after the Civil War. Britt’s victory had less to do with the policy positions he took and a lot more to do with Britt’s knack for being present and showing up when people are in need, as they were when Hurricane Matthew struck a month before the election.
In this video, Britt, a former college football player and self-proclaimed “good ol’ boy,” talks about Robeson County’s vast needs, why he thinks Donald Trump won the county, and what he thinks he will have to win to secure reelection in 2018.
